Born in Istanbul in 1959, took his first qanun lessons from his father, Gültekin Aydoğdu, who was a famous qanun artist. In 1981, he entered the Ankara Radio as qanun player, also graduating from METU Physics Department in 1983 besides his career in music.

Having an educational aspect, he worked as a lecturer at METU Music and Fine Arts Department and as conductor of METU Classical Turkish Music Choir from 1987 to 2001 and has received the “2001 METU Appreciation Award”. He also worked as Director of TRT Ankara Radio Turkish Music Department between 1997 and 2000 and as a lecturer at the Gazi University Faculty of Fine Arts.

Aydoğdu is the second artist to perform Ferit Alnar’s “Qanun Concerto” after its composer and the first artist to perform Alnar’s “Çiftetelli”. The first performance of Khachatur Avetisyan’s Qanun Concerto No. 2 in its original form was performed In March 2016 with the Ankara Presidential Symphony Orchestra.

Aydoğdu was the soloist of the qanun concerto “Shafaklarin Cihangiri” (Conqueror of the Dawns), composed by the German composer Stefan Pohlit to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie conducted by Dirk Kaftan in concerts in Neustadt, Worth and Mannheim in February 2024.

In addition to his music studies, he gave conferences on “Qanun and Turkish Music” in Turkey and abroad and also held workshops in various countries.

In 2005 he was awarded the “Social Fair Play Award Medal of Honor” in the field of communication by TMOK (Turkish National Olympic Committee) with the program “From the Strings Spilled the Tunes” prepared and presented on TRT Radio 4.

Aydoğdu has 5 published albums and gave more than 2000 concerts in 70 countries until today.

The Tanini Trio founded in Ankara in 2006 with of qanun, ney and piano has received the “Artist with Strategic Vision Award” by the Turkish-Asian Center for Strategic Studies (TASAM) in 2017 in Istanbul.

Aydoğdu is also a member of the World Cimbalom Association in Budapest and the founding president of the “Turkish Music Federation” between 2015-2020.
