Istanbul Clarinet Choir

Istanbul Clarinet Choir, consisting of young clarinet artists, made a rapid entrance into the music world in January 2009. In addition to being the first clarinet choir in Turkey, the ensemble has attracted attention with its unique and diverse repertoire.
With the support of the Istanbul Clarinet Society, the choir began presenting regular events at CKM (Caddebostan Cultural Center) starting from the 2009–2010 concert season. These performances featured colorful and varied programs, welcoming not only renowned conductors but also internationally recognized soloists.
At İş Sanat, the famous stage cantata “Peer Gynt” by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg was performed seven times beginning in February 2010, for the first time in the world accompanied by a clarinet choir. In the same year, the ensemble went on an international tour within the framework of the European Union Culture Bridges Project.
The choir was awarded the Donizetti 2011 Classical Music Award as the Best Chamber Music Ensemble of the Year. In the same year, it won First Prize and several special mentions at the 4th International Sliven Virtuosi Festival Chamber Music Competition held in Bulgaria.
Within the scope of ClarinetFest 2013, the choir performed at Teatro Comunale Metastasio in Assisi, Italy, presenting a program consisting entirely of works by contemporary Turkish composers. During the same festival, the ensemble members also participated in the performance of the largest clarinet choir in the world.
In 2013, the choir was invited again to perform the closing concert of the 5th International Sliven Virtuosi Festival. Following their performance, they were honored with the “High Musical Quality” diploma awarded by the Union of Bulgarian Musicians.
The choir has continued to appear on international stages, performing at ClarinetFest 2015 in Madrid, at the Istanbul Woodwind Festival in 2016, and in Ostend, Belgium in 2018. With more than 180 performances since its foundation, the ensemble has established itself as one of the distinguished chamber music groups of Turkey.
